Saboreal was born in 2015 on the Arade River in Portugal's Algarve. The region once had a deep fish-canning industry that faded over time; the founders created Conserveira do Arade to bring Algarve Conservas craft back. The brand still emphasizes artisanal production and is certified as an artisanal producer — preferring human skill over mass machinery.

This Sardinhas Artesanal isn't the usual whole-fish tin either.

Sardines are hand-prepared into meat, combined with confit tomato and local flavorings, then packed in glass. Confit tomato brings concentrated sweet-acid umami; with sardine savor it eats like a finished Portuguese petisco.
